My name’s Maurice — head coach and owner of Alpha Athletic. I’ve spent 23 years as a personal trainer, starting out in some of London’s best private and corporate gyms before opening Alpha Athletic in 2018 to bring that same level of coaching home to Newport. Most of my work is body transformation — helping clients lose weight, build strength, and rebuild their relationship with training through honest coaching, nutrition guidance, and a programme that fits their life. Alongside that, I coach athletes on strength and conditioning — rugby players, fighters, anyone who needs performance-led training.

How long is each PT session?
Each session is around an hour — enough time for a proper warm-up, focused coaching, and a full training block.
What happens in the first PT session?
Your first session starts with a conversation — Maurice will get to know your goals, training history, and any injuries or limitations. From there, expect a mix of movement assessment and hands-on coaching so he can see where you are and start building a programme around you.
How many PT sessions do I need?
It depends on your goals. Most people start with Silver (10 sessions) — enough time to build a solid programme and see real progress. Gold (20 sessions) is ideal if you want maximum support or have a specific target in mind. Bronze (5 sessions) is a good starting point or top-up if you already have a foundation.
What does a bespoke programme include?
Maurice builds every programme around you — your goals, schedule, and current fitness level. Expect a structured training plan, technique coaching, and ongoing adjustments as you progress. Nutrition and recovery guidance can also be included.
How is my progress tracked?
Maurice tracks progress session by session — strength benchmarks, body composition, mobility, and how you’re feeling day to day. The plan adapts as you progress, so each session builds on the last and you always know what you’re working toward.
How long does it take to see results from personal training?
Most clients see real changes within 4–6 weeks of consistent training. Members regularly hit a stone of weight loss within 8–10 weeks of Maurice’s programming, alongside steady improvements in strength, energy, and sleep. Silver (10 sessions) is usually enough time to build a programme and see meaningful change; Gold (20 sessions) gives space for a full transformation.
Do I need to be a gym member to book personal training?
No — personal training is open to everyone, not just gym members. If you'd like to train with Maurice without a membership, just get in touch at mc@alphaathletic.co.uk.
What is the cancellation and refund policy for PT packages?
PT packages are paid upfront and are non-refundable. Sessions must be used within 12 weeks of purchase. If you need to reschedule a session, give as much notice as possible.
